BIM Q&A | BIM Modeling Questions
A design team used Navisworks for modeling, but the general contractor needed to optimize and perform clash detection on the provided model file. However, the contractor reported that the Navisworks model from the design team could not be modified, optimized, or used for clash detection. They requested to switch to Revit for modeling. Could you please clarify this issue? Thank you!
Navisworks is not a modeling tool. It is a BIM analysis software primarily used for reviewing and analyzing models. The actual modeling is done with BIM authoring software, with Revit being the industry standard today. Therefore, the correct workflow is to create the model in Revit first, then import it into Navisworks for optimization and clash detection.
