BIM Q&A | How Often Are BIM Exams Held Annually, and What Subjects Are Included?
The BIM exam is divided into several classification levels. Currently, the most popular is the national BIM professional skills exam, which takes place twice a year—once in June and once in December—with a standardized schedule across the country.
The exam covers different content areas depending on the specialization:
1. BIM Modeling Technology: This track includes three subjects: “Introduction to BIM Technology,” “BIM Modeling Application Technology,” and “BIM Design and Construction Comprehensive Skills and Practice.”
2. BIM Project Management: This consists of four subjects: “Introduction to BIM Technology,” “BIM Modeling Application Technology,” “BIM Application and Project Management,” and “BIM Application Case Analysis.”
3. BIM Strategic Planning: This includes two subjects: “Introduction to BIM Technology” and “BIM Application Case Analysis,” along with the submission of a defense paper.
