BIM Q&A | How to Import ArchiCAD Files in DWG Format?
1. Methods:
1. Open the DWG file directly in ArchiCAD and save it as an ArchiCAD file.
To do this, go to File > Open, then in the file type dropdown, select *.dwg. Choose the DWG file you want to open and load it into ArchiCAD.
2. Use ArchiCAD’s built-in conversion tool to import the DWG file.
Open the File > Special > Merge window, select *.dwg from the file type menu, locate your DWG file, and import it. After that, save the project as an ArchiCAD file.
2. Practical CAD Tips:
1. When drawing straight lines, you may find that some lines are too long or too short. To adjust the length, click on the line to reveal three small blue grips. Hover over either end grip, then click and drag it to lengthen or shorten the line.
2. After executing any command, if you want to repeat it in the next step, simply right-click or press Enter. CAD will automatically repeat the last command. For example, after drawing a rectangle, right-click and confirm to draw another one immediately.
3. If the drawing cannot be zoomed in or out further, type the shortcut RE to regenerate the view.
4. Memorizing frequently used shortcut commands greatly improves efficiency. For instance, use L for drawing lines and C for circles. Regularly practicing and applying these shortcuts in your daily workflow will save you time and effort.
