BIM Q&A | Why Does Revit Move Only the Upper Wall When Moving Walls, and How to Move Layers Separately?

BIM Q&A | Why Does Revit Only Select the Upper Wall When Moving, Causing the Lower Layer to Move Too? How Can You Separate and Move Them Independently?

When moving walls in Revit, you might notice that selecting the upper part of a wall causes the lower layer to move along with it. This happens because the wall layers are connected as a single element by default.

To move the layers separately, you need to disconnect them first. You can then move each layer independently, connect the gas piping, and draw them individually before positioning them side by side.

If you want to adjust the original two wall connections, be careful not to move the two types of break blocks. When moving again, ensure these break blocks remain stationary to maintain proper connections.

If this explanation isn’t clear, feel free to ask me again for further clarification.
