BIM Q&A: Should Walls Be Included When Modeling Floor Slabs in Revit?

BIM Q&A | Should Walls Be Included When Drawing Floor Slabs in Revit?

In the tutorial video, the floor slab is drawn along the outer edge of the masonry wall. However, in real construction, the floor slab does not extend through the building wall, so including the wall in the slab drawing may not be necessary. Is this difference due to the software settings?

Typically, you can draw the floor slab first and then cut out any overlapping sections. In fact, it doesn’t have to be complicated. There are advanced modeling plugins that allow you to generate floor slabs with a single click—without any overlapping parts.
