New Features in InfraWorks 360 2018:
1. Road Design:
- Label prefixes on component roads help distinguish fixed station numbers and horizontal geometric shapes.
- Improved editing of transition curve layouts both on canvas and in the “stack”.
- Create road and bridge decorations based on parameterized content from Autodesk Inventor.
- Automatically convert roads to component roads with a single click based on selected styles.
- Context-sensitive messages provide immediate feedback on road curves and transition curve layouts.
- Display fixed incremental station labels for selected component roads.
- Updated road design tutorials are available.
2. Parameterized Bridge:
- Preview bridge components instantly when adding them via the Style Palette.
- View dimensions of marked bridge components such as piers, beams, and beam groups within the canvas.
- Manage parameterized bridge content conveniently in the Style Palette.
- Share bridge components across models.
- See 3D previews of bridge components when selecting part sizes.
3. Quantity and Analysis:
- View material quantities for roads, bridges, and drainage within specified station ranges or areas of interest (AOI).
- Calculate earthwork volumes across multiple selected roads.
- Calculate material quantities for selected component roads.
- Customize the quantity panel for easier viewing and exporting.
- Export material quantities for reporting and analysis purposes.
4. Point Cloud:
- Extract linear features from point clouds to assist road design.
- Edit linear features using cross-sectional views.
- Generate horizontal lines from linear features to provide richer terrain information.
- Export point cloud extractions including ground grids, linear, and vertical features.
5. Visualization:
- Control label visibility within the view canvas via the “Interactive View Settings” dialog.
- The default view is now set to the engineering view.
- For a cleaner engineering view, disable “Realistic Trees” to display simplified tree models scaled to accurate heights.
- Two new adaptive tree styles, “cedar tree” and “cedar tree with snow,” have been added alongside the existing “beech tree”.
- Annotation displays smoothly transition when changing views.
- Measurement tools like point-to-point distance now feature enhanced labels showing length and area information.
6. Infrastructure Parts Editor:
- Create custom drainage or pipe modeling templates using the infrastructure part modeling plugin in Autodesk Inventor, then import them into the parts editor.
- Customize drainage structures and pipe components.
- Publish components to catalogs for use in Autodesk InfraWorks or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Key Features of InfraWorks 2018:
1. Modeling
Build a detailed model of the project’s existing environment by integrating large datasets and merging survey-level data to enhance accuracy.
2. Design
Create roads, bridges, drainage systems, and more using fast, visual tools that incorporate engineering design principles.
3. Analysis
Utilize tools for visual distance measurement, flood simulation, and dynamic site analysis to support better project decisions.
4. Design Presentations and Collaboration
Share cloud-based models with project teams and stakeholders for real-time feedback and create engaging design presentations.
5. Cross-Sectional Diagrams
Evaluate superelevation, road assemblies, excavation, and fill details through detailed cross-sectional views.
6. Component Roads
Design roads using intelligent components such as lanes, curbs, and sidewalks that can be individually configured.
7. Topographic Contour Lines
Display detailed contour lines for existing and proposed ground surfaces, with adjustable intervals.
8. Quantity Calculations
Calculate the number of bridges, intersections, and roundabouts on roads, with options to limit calculations to specific station ranges.
