BIM Q&A | Overview of Revit’s Multi-User Collaboration System
There are a couple of approaches to multi-person collaboration in Revit:
One common method involves using Revit Server to establish a central model server. The central model is stored on this server, and team members collaborate by assigning worksets within the project. However, this approach has its drawbacks: it requires a complex setup, can be unstable at times, and the central model’s security is vulnerable since it can be easily copied, modified, or deleted without strict controls.
Alternatively, the Red Tile Collaborative Master Platform offers a simpler solution. It incorporates some security features to protect the model and has been successfully implemented in projects such as the Nansha Hospital by the Eighth Bureau.
