BIM Q&A | What is the Role of the Revit Chief for Boiler Heating Circulating Pumps?
Instructions for Using the Circulating Pump:
1. Choose and purchase a circulating pump with adequate power based on the required circulation flow and head.
2. Typically, the pump capacity is calculated to handle an actual hourly flow rate between 2 to 12 times the total water volume, depending on the system being fed.
3. Install and commission the pump following the manufacturer’s guidelines.
4. The pump is generally designed to operate continuously, 24 hours a day.
Instructions for Using the Thermostat:
1. Select and purchase heating elements and chillers with power ratings suitable for the desired water temperature and surrounding environmental conditions.
2. Heating power is usually calculated at 1.5 to 2 watts per liter of water, while cooling power is approximately 0.1 horsepower per 100 liters.
3. Install and calibrate the heating rods and chillers according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Never operate the heating or cooling equipment without water present.
