BIM Q&A | How to Import Revit Models into HTC Vive for Roaming Viewing?
Hello everyone, I recently purchased an HTC Vive and wanted to import a Revit model into the Vive for immersive viewing. Previously, I worked on a BIM project with my instructor. After reading @Zhang Xin’s response, I started exploring Unity since I had no prior experience with it. My short-term goal is simply to view the Revit model in VR.
Here’s what I did: I imported the FBX file into Unity’s Assets, dragged it into the scene, deleted the main camera, and then added the SteamVR plugin by dragging the CameraRig prefab into the scene. I also made sure that “Virtual Reality Supported” was enabled in the project settings. After building the project, an .exe file was generated.
However, when I run the application and put on the VR headset, all I see is a vast white space—my model is nowhere to be found. Could this be due to the camera’s incorrect position or a missing step? I haven’t come across clear instructions on what else needs to be done after adding the CameraRig to the scene. There is very little information available online about this process.
I would greatly appreciate any clarification or guidance.
