How to Create and Save a Material Library Separately in Revit
Follow these steps to create and save a material library in Revit:
1. Open the Material Browser and click Create a new library.
2. Choose the location where you want to save the library.
3. Create a new material by adding textures and adjusting the material parameters.
4. Right-click the material and add it to the newly created material library.
5. Confirm to save the current material; the material library will then be saved automatically.
Note: The built-in material library is stored in the following directory: C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAutodesk SharedMaterials.
Importing a Material Library:
1. Open the Material Browser and click Open existing library.
2. Import the material library file with the .adsklib extension into your project.
3. Apply the materials from the imported library to elements in your current project.
Important notes:
1. The texture storage path for the material library must match the path used when importing it into the project.
2. There is a difference between importing materials into the Material Browser and the Asset Browser. Changes made to materials in the Asset Browser will not affect those in the Material Browser, and vice versa.
