Revit Unable to Generate Energy Analysis Surfaces

Revit Cannot Create Energy Analysis Surfaces

If you try to export a gbXML file and the specified phase of your building model lacks any room boundary elements, you will encounter this error message:

Error: Unable to create any energy analysis surface. There are no room boundary elements defined in the current phase. Please verify your Project Information settings.

How to Fix This Issue:

Follow these steps to resolve the problem:

  • Make sure that relevant components in your building model, such as walls and roofs, are correctly set as room boundary elements.
  • Navigate to the Manage tab and open the Project Information panel.
  • In the dialog’s Instance Properties, click on Energy Data and then select Edit.
  • Within the Energy Settings dialog, choose the appropriate Project Phase for energy analysis. This phase must include room boundary elements.
