Revit Hidden Line Settings for Pipes
Revit allows you to control the hidden line display for pipes through the Mechanical Settings dialog box, specifically in the Hidden Line tab. This feature lets you define how intersecting pipes on different planes are visually represented in your model.
In a double-line drawing style, intersecting ducts and pipe segments are displayed so that lines representing segments on the farthest plane appear in a different style. This indicates they are hidden behind the segments in the foreground and are not connected to those segments, as illustrated below. Note that selecting Hidden Line as a visual style only enables the use of the Hidden Line parameters.
To access these settings, go to the System tab, then click the Mechanical panel to open Mechanical Settings.
Within the Mechanical Settings dialog, select Hidden Lines from the left panel.
On the right panel, you can specify the following parameters regarding line style and gap widths:
- Draw MEP Hidden Lines: When selected, ducts or pipes are drawn using the specified line style and gap settings for hidden lines.
- Line Style: Click the value column and choose a line style from the dropdown menu to define how hidden segment lines appear at intersections.
- Internal Gap: Sets the gap between lines within the intersecting segment. If Fine Lines is selected, no gap is displayed.
- External Gap: Sets the gap between lines outside the intersection. Similarly, no gap appears if Fine Lines is chosen.
- Single Line: Defines the gap between hidden lines at segment intersections when using single line display.
