Located in the heart of Nakhon Si Thammarat, one of southern Thailand’s oldest cities, the Navakitel Design Hotel is surrounded by shops and residences. The hotel features 68 guest rooms, with a lobby on the first floor and an open terrace on the third floor designed for hosting events.

Originally intended as a reinforced concrete apartment building, the project evolved into a hotel while retaining the existing floor plan. At the time of redesign, the building had already been constructed up to the second floor. The room types are categorized by size, with each floor maintaining a consistent layout.

To reduce the building’s thickness, the architect selected thin, sharp steel plates for this seven-story concrete structure. These robust steel plates and ductile metals create volume while softening the building’s solidity, allowing natural light to filter through.

The architect also paid close attention to building systems often overlooked. After consulting with electrical engineers, they integrated the building systems, lighting, and equipment across the interior spaces—including guest rooms, lobbies, and corridors. Rather than concealing these systems behind gypsum ceilings, they are partially exposed, turning technical elements into an integral part of the hotel’s architectural aesthetics.

The Navakitel Design Hotel celebrates local craftsmanship by incorporating the skills of blacksmiths, carpenters, and bricklayers into both its architecture and interior design. This approach highlights the unique cultural character of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
