Every ethnic culture throughout history has developed its own architectural style, and Chinese architecture embodies the spirit of our nation.

Saluting Tradition
Chinese architecture is the soul and foundation of Eastern culture.
It represents the oldest and longest-standing architectural tradition in the world, renowned for its innovation.
Traditional Chinese architecture embraces the philosophy of “unity of heaven and man,” seamlessly integrating nature and human habitation.
Elements such as buckets, arches, beams, braces, purlins, and rafters form the core components of this architectural style.

Design Concept
Hidden within the city, blending ancient charm with modern architecture,
A winding path leads to a serene space where traditional courtyard etiquette is preserved.
Reflections of flowers, moonlit water, and lanterns just beginning to glow create a tranquil atmosphere.

Space
Inspired by lofty mountains and flowing waters, creating poetic landscapes,
The design captures the essence of “mountains and waters” to shape the spatial atmosphere;
Buildings are constructed with traditional wooden architectural features like cornices and arches;
The true beauty is achieved through skillful craftsmanship combined with the soul of Western architectural techniques.

Location
The project is situated in Tianfu New Area, Chengdu City,
At the intersection of Muhua Road and Jinjiang Road,
With its north and west sides adjoining the main urban interface.
This mature location offers convenient transportation, making it ideal for both residential and commercial use.

Facade Design
Featuring clean, efficient lines and minimalist design techniques,
The project evokes a deeply traditional architectural form,
Adding diversity to the urban landscape
And revitalizing the entire area’s vibrancy.
It fosters a dynamic interaction between architecture and urban space,
Enhancing the city’s visual identity.

Flow and Movement
The site layout follows a ceremonial sequence,
Highlighting a sense of ritual and formality.
The entrance hall is dignified yet graceful,
Facing the entrance is a metal grille through which one can faintly glimpse the interior and a corner of the building.

The winding paths guide visitors through secluded spaces and changing scenery,
Connecting people, nature, architecture, and space.
This creates the enchanting atmosphere of another village, where willows and flowers shimmer in the light.

Eaves
The “double eave” is a hallmark of official architecture,
Symbolizing the highest standards of Chinese architectural tradition.
This design element emphasizes the building’s solemnity and elegance,
Reflecting its dual character and refined temperament.

Door Arch
The wooden arch is a distinctive structural form in classical Chinese architecture,
Encapsulating the essence of this tradition,
Combining both functionality and aesthetics.

This project draws inspiration from the structural characteristics of the traditional wooden arch.
It abstracts this form using modern technology and materials,
Reinterpreting the beauty of the wooden arch while preserving the essence of classical culture.

“Without the intricate beauty and subtle craftsmanship of the wooden arch, there would be no cornices or eaves, no soaring elegance, and no delicate balance that defines Chinese architecture.”
—— Lin Huiyin
Courtyard
“Do not be swayed by favor or disgrace; simply watch the flowers bloom and fall in the courtyard.
I have no intent to stay or leave, just to gaze upon the drifting clouds and feel at ease.”
Amidst the chaos, find your peace.

Water
The courtyard design is centered around the theme of “water.”
From reflective water features in the front court, to ornamental wave-shaped elements,
And mosaic murals depicting majestic mountains and flowing rivers,
Water is a pervasive element throughout the design.
Enjoy tea while reading, relax and listen to the sound of wind and rain—
This embodies the pursuit of an ideal lifestyle.

Landscape Design
The language of landscape sculpture and architecture is unified by the use of curved, sloping roofs.
Throughout the design, fractal geometry is employed to evoke the small-scale ripples of water waves,
While also symbolizing a series of mountain peaks.

Materials and Craftsmanship
The building extensively incorporates metal curtain walls and glass surfaces.
The fusion of these modern materials reflects the poetic essence of classical architecture.

Conclusion
Within the high walls and deep courtyards, the gentle sound of trickling water can be heard.
Passing through the gate, the pathway, flowing water, and the soft sound of the pipa captivate the senses.
As footsteps move and light and shadow shift,
One steps over misty waters, listens to the flowing sounds, and steps into a serene world.
Pause, look back, and appreciate the moment—
Only then can we truly understand the beauty of life.
