Missing Elements When Opening BIM 360 Design Revit Models

Error Opening BIM 360 Design Revit Model: “Too Many Graphics Elements Are Missing”

Issue Description:

Users have reported that on certain computers, attempting to open a Revit model stored in BIM 360 Design results in the following error message:

“The file __AI_S_SC_0_ cannot be opened. There are too many missing elements in the file. Please contact Autodesk support.”

As a result, the model fails to open.

Interestingly, these same users can open other models stored on the A360 Collaboration for Revit service without any issues on the affected machines.

Recommended Solution:

To resolve this problem, copy the collaborative cache files from a computer where the model opens successfully to the one displaying the error. Follow these steps:

  • Locate the collaborative cache files on the functioning computer. Note: do not include the PACCache folder.
  • Transfer these cache files to the same location on the problematic computer.
  • After copying, attempt to open the model again in Revit through BIM 360.

This process helps clear any corrupted or broken cloud-shared model information or expired links that may be causing the issue.
