How to Create Floors from Mass Floors in Revit
To use the Floor Slabs tool, you must first create a volume floor. Then, calculate the floor area of the volume floor within the volume instance.
Follow these steps to create a floor slab from a volume floor:
1. Open the view that displays the conceptual mass model.
2. Click on the Volume tab, then find the Surface Model panel and select Floor Slab.
3. In the type selector, choose a wall type.
4. (Optional) To create a floor slab from a single mass face, go to the Modify | Place Surface Floor tab, then in the Multiple Choice panel, disable the multiple selection option (this option is enabled by default).
5. Move your cursor over the volume floor to highlight it.
6. Click to select the volume floor.
If the Select Multiple option is disabled, a floor slab will be placed immediately on the selected volume floor.
If the Select Multiple option is enabled, you can select multiple volume floors:
- Click an unselected volume floor to add it to your selection.
- Click a selected volume floor to remove it from your selection.
The cursor will indicate whether a mass floor is being added (+) or removed (−).
To clear all selections and start over, click the Clear Selection button in the Multiple Choice panel under the Modify | Place Surface Floor tab.
After selecting the desired volume floors, click Create a Floor Slab in the same panel to finalize the floor slabs.
