How to Fix the “Extraction Failed” Error When Publishing a Revit Model to BIM 360
When attempting to publish a Revit model in BIM 360 Document Management, the process may fail and display the following error message in the publish logs:
Extraction failed
Although no error messages appear within Revit itself, BIM 360 Document Management is unable to extract the files.
Possible Causes:
- The model contains corrupted data or broken links.
- The model is currently locked in BIM 360 Document Management.
How to Resolve the Issue:
- Make sure there are no locked model files in BIM 360 Document Management.
- Use the “Audit” (Verification) option to open the model and check for issues.
- Use the “Audit” option to open any linked models as well.
- Synchronize the model to the central file again.
- Attempt to publish the model once more.
If the problem persists, try publishing the model under a different name or to another project.
