How to Fix 'Extraction Failure' Errors When Publishing Revit Models to BIM 360

How to Fix the “Extraction Failed” Error When Publishing a Revit Model to BIM 360

When attempting to publish a Revit model in BIM 360 Document Management, the process may fail and display the following error message in the publish logs:

Extraction failed

Although no error messages appear within Revit itself, BIM 360 Document Management is unable to extract the files.

Possible Causes:

  • The model contains corrupted data or broken links.
  • The model is currently locked in BIM 360 Document Management.

How to Resolve the Issue:

  1. Make sure there are no locked model files in BIM 360 Document Management.
  2. Use the “Audit” (Verification) option to open the model and check for issues.
  3. Use the “Audit” option to open any linked models as well.
  4. Synchronize the model to the central file again.
  5. Attempt to publish the model once more.

If the problem persists, try publishing the model under a different name or to another project.
