How to Hide Grids in Linked Revit Files
When working with multiple linked Revit files in a project, you may notice overlapping grids from each linked file, as illustrated below. These grids can clutter your view and interfere with your workflow. Fortunately, you can easily hide the grids from linked files to create a cleaner and more organized workspace.
Follow these steps to hide grids in linked models:
- Open the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog by pressing VV (or typing VG). In the dialog, navigate to the Revit Links tab. Here, you’ll see the display settings for linked models, which default to By Host View, as shown below.
- Click on the By Host View dropdown to open the RVT Link Display Settings dialog. Within this dialog, select Custom under the Basic column to customize the display.
- Switch to the Annotation Categories tab in the same dialog. Click Customize and uncheck Grids in the list of annotation categories, as demonstrated below.
- Confirm your changes by clicking OK twice. The grids from the linked model will now be hidden from view.
Note: This method uses grid control as an example, but the same approach applies to other settings such as view properties, display options, and discipline filters. For instance, when integrating resources across different disciplines, linked model views can be customized as resource views.
