How to Import Project Files into Navisworks
One of the key features of BIM is the ability to import and integrate data files from various software platforms. But how do you import a Project schedule file into Navisworks? The following steps explain the process.
1. Open your Navisworks model. Then, click on the Menu in the menu bar. Under the Commonly Used tab, select the TimeLiner command, as shown in the image below.
2. In the dialog box that appears, switch to the Data Source tab and click the Add button, as illustrated.
3. From the drop-down menu, the first three options allow you to import a Project file. For example, select the third option, as demonstrated in the image.
4. In the next dialog box, choose your saved Project file and click Open. This will import the schedule into your Navisworks model, as shown.
Note: While Navisworks can create schedules internally, the process is often cumbersome. Importing Project files can save you a significant amount of time.
