Customizing Node Settings for Tekla Foundation Beam-to-Column Connections

Custom Node Settings for Tekla Foundation Beam-Column Connections

Beam-column nodes come in various forms. Here, we present a straightforward approach to setting up custom beam-column nodes.

1. Overview

The custom nodes for connecting basic beams and columns are relatively simple and consist of fewer components. The process involves drawing the necessary parts and then using the Define User Unit command to generate the custom node from those parts.

2. Step-by-Step Instructions

(1) Draw all the components at the beam-column junction, including connecting plates, bolts, and stiffeners.

(2) Navigate to Detail > Composition > Define User Unit in the menu to open the User Unit Shortcut dialog box. Follow the prompts to select the primary and secondary parts, completing the custom node setup.

(3) Once completed, a green node symbol will appear at the created node, indicating that all parts have been successfully converted into a custom node.
