How to Create a Ceiling in Revit
Use the Ceiling tool to create a ceiling within a ceiling plan view.
Start by opening the ceiling plan view.
Then, navigate to the Architecture tab and locate the Build panel. Click on Ceiling.
In the Type Selector, choose the desired ceiling type.
You can place the ceiling using one of the following methods:
1. Using Walls as Ceiling Boundaries
2. Drawing the Ceiling Boundary
To draw the ceiling boundary manually, go to the Modify | Place Ceiling tab, then select the Ceiling panel.
Use the drawing tools available in the panel to create closed loops that define the ceiling boundaries.
Optional: To add an opening within the ceiling, draw another closed loop inside the main ceiling boundary.
When finished, click Finish Editing Mode on the ribbon to complete the ceiling placement.
By default, the Automatic Ceiling tool is active. When you click on the interior walls forming a closed loop, the tool places a ceiling inside those boundaries, ignoring any room dividers.
