Shanghai Qingpu Xiehe Bilingual School, the flagship project of the Xiehe Group, is dedicated to creating a smart school for the future. To accommodate the diverse needs of students, teachers, and parents, the campus buildings feature varied spatial designs tailored for different uses.
For parents, the campus feels open and welcoming. The sports facilities open directly to the city, allowing children’s laughter and joy to become a part of the urban landscape. Each teaching building’s ends twist towards the playground, with lively facades that resemble bright, cheerful smiles.

The campus entrance square is spacious and open, featuring the shadow of a traditional academy. Surrounding it, a circular corridor provides shelter from wind and rain. Its folding and extending design symbolizes spatial transformation. This space acts as a safe boundary where parents can watch their children with peace of mind. It also serves as a transition zone, helping students switch roles and smoothly move into their daily academic and social lives.
For teachers, the campus embodies order and longevity. The layout is organized along a central axis, with functional areas color-coded for clarity: blue for high school, yellow for primary school, and bright red for public corridors. This color scheme continues indoors, enhancing vibrancy and clear identification. Movable partitions between shared classrooms and expandable corridors allow flexibility. The combined dining area and open courtyard library create informal, adaptable spaces that support both daily instruction and future pedagogical innovations.
For students, the campus represents authenticity and equality. This is expressed through honest construction, clear structural order, and simple finishes. The restrained architectural techniques and calm design avoid creating an overwhelming or alienating environment. Instead, they provide a subtle sense of care that allows students to relax freely, becoming the genuine backdrop to their daily learning experiences.
