How to Set Two Types of Door Handles for a Door Family in Revit
First, draw any wall in your project and place a door with a door handle, as shown below:
Next, double-click the door to open its family editing interface. Click Insert > Load Family, navigate to the Architecture > Door > Component > Door Handle folder in the family library, and select any door handle to load into the family.
Arrange the newly loaded door handle within the family. Switch to plan and elevation views to adjust and lock the door handle’s position, as illustrated in the figure below.
By following these steps, you have successfully added two types of door handles to the door family.
However, since a door only requires one handle, you need to control the visibility of each door handle.
The process is as follows:
Select one of the door handles, then link its visibility to a family parameter in the Properties panel. Because there are no existing parameters available, create a new family parameter (e.g., Handle 1). In this case, I set it as an instance parameter, but you may choose a type parameter depending on your needs. The detailed steps are shown in the figure below.
Repeat the same method to associate the visibility of the second door handle with another family parameter (e.g., Handle 2).
Now, click Family Types to open the Family Types dialog box. Under the Other parameters section, you will find two instance parameters: Handle 1 and Handle 2. These parameters allow you to control the visibility of each door handle independently.
