How to Correct the Reverse Connection of an Upstream Tee in a Revit Drainage Pipeline
In the water supply and drainage systems, specific downstream tees are essential for ensuring smooth gravity drainage and preventing backflow. However, when using the trim/extend to corner tool in Revit, you might encounter reversed connections of downstream tees. This issue occurs because the software determines the tee direction based on the pipeline’s start and end points. If the pipeline isn’t drawn in the direction of water flow, the downstream tee will appear reversed, as shown in the image below.
(The arrow indicates the direction of water flow)
To fix this, you can reorient the pipeline direction and regenerate the tee by following these steps:
- Delete the incorrectly connected tee and its adjoining main pipe.
- Draw a new drainage pipe following the water flow direction indicated by the arrow. Make sure to extend the connecting node slightly; otherwise, Revit may still register the connection as reversed.
- Connect this new pipe segment to the preceding pipeline section to restore the proper downstream tee connection.
Why Correcting Reversed Downstream Tees Matters in Revit
When designing drainage systems in Revit, it’s best practice to lay out pipes in the actual drainage flow direction. This approach helps ensure that tees connect correctly and significantly reduces modeling time and errors within the drainage system.
