How to Export Built-in Model Components in Revit
In Revit, built-in modeling commands are frequently used to create models. However, after completing a model, you might realize that it can be useful in another project. In that case, you need to export the built-in model and load it into a different project for reuse.
Follow these steps to export and reuse built-in model components:
- Create your model using the built-in modeling tools.
- Go to the Application menu, then select Save As > Library > Group. Enter a name and save the file.
- In your new project, navigate to the Insert tab, choose Load as Family, and locate the saved file.
- Open the Project Browser, go to Groups > Model, find the group you loaded, right-click it, and select Create Instance to place it in your project.
- Once the group is placed, select it and use the Ungroup option on the Modify tab to separate the components as needed.
This method allows you to efficiently reuse built-in model components across different Revit projects.
