Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Partition Joints in Revit Wall Types
When modifying the structure of a vertical composite wall, use the Separation Seam tool to control the placement and display of wall dividers effectively.
Before proceeding, open the Edit Components dialog box for the wall type. For detailed instructions, refer to the guide on opening the Edit Assembly dialog box for composite walls.
The separation seam removes material at the intersection between the wall contour and the wall layer.
Within the Edit Components dialog, click Separation Seam.
Then, click Add to create a new separation seam.
Choose a contour from the available list.
Note: The separation seam itself has no material option. Its material matches the cutting material used.
Specify whether the seam extends from the top or bottom of the wall by selecting the From option and setting the Distance accordingly.
Designate the seam to align with either the interior or exterior Edge of the wall.
If needed, set an Offset value. Negative values will move the separation seam towards the wall’s core.
Select Flip if you want to measure the distance from the top of the separation seam contour instead of the bottom.
Under Received, specify the distance by which the partition seam should be offset from attachments such as windows and doors.
Finally, click Confirm to apply your settings.
The section below demonstrates how the separation seam appears when applied.
