How to Create Non-Penetrating Holes in Floor Slabs Using Revit
When working with Revit software, you may encounter limitations with the built-in opening commands. For instance, if you want to create a hole in a floor slab that does not fully penetrate it, the default options like “Face Opening” or “Vertical Shaft Entrance” always result in a hole that goes through the entire slab as soon as it touches it. So, how can this issue be resolved?
1. It is not possible to create a hollow intersecting the floor slab with a single built-in component. Instead, you need to model the hollow and then cut it with the floor slab before finalizing the model.
2. After completing the model, you can then create non-penetrating holes as needed.
In other words, although Revit’s built-in commands have certain limitations during the modeling process, by combining components and using them thoughtfully, you can effectively control and customize elements like floor openings.
