How to Create a PAT File for Revit Drawing Fill Patterns
Hello everyone! In this technical guide, we will walk you through the process of creating PAT files for Revit drawing fill patterns. Fill patterns play a crucial role in Revit modeling—for example, the diagonal lines that appear on walls in RV floor plans are a type of fill pattern. But where exactly are these fill patterns saved?
1. Location of the Fill Pattern File
As illustrated in the image below, the fill pattern files are stored in the following location:
There are two main approaches to creating PAT files: the first is by coding manually, and the second is by using a plugin.
So, how do you create a PAT file using these methods? In this article, we will focus on the plugin method. Let’s take a closer look.
Start by opening your CAD software. Navigate to the Tools menu and click on “Load Application,” as shown in the image below.
Once the application is loaded, type MP1 at the bottom command line, press Space, and then create a new fill pattern with a custom name.
The above steps describe how to create drawing fill patterns. Note that CAD line types need to be drawn manually.
