Explanation of Navisworks Graphic Element Fixation
Navisworks offers a feature that allows you to preserve the state of selected elements relative to the current viewpoint. To begin, open your Navisworks scene file and save the driving route within the viewpoint, as illustrated below:
Next, switch the viewpoint background to focus on the red car. Then, in the commonly used panel, click Select followed by Select and Search from the dropdown menu to choose the object with the highest level of accuracy, as shown here:
Now, click on the car graphic within the scene. Navigate to the Project Tools tab, where you will find the Holding Tools in the holding panel. Click to activate these tools, as depicted below:
Using the Navigation Panel’s Roaming tool in the Viewpoint tab, verify that the __AI_S_SC_0_ tool has the collision and gravity options enabled, as shown:
Then, perform a roaming operation on the car graphic elements within the scene. As you move, the selected car graphics will follow the roaming path and stay within your field of view. This feature helps simulate roaming and check for potential collisions along the specified route. See the example here:
Next, return to the Project Tools tab and click Hold to unlock the current element. When you use the roaming path again, the car graphic will no longer follow the path. Then, select the Reset Transform option to undo any graphic transformations made. This process is demonstrated below:
Switch the driving route viewpoint to the Driving Route Animation viewpoint and ensure the car graphics are selected. Click Hold on the Project Tools tab, then go to the Viewpoint tab. From the Save, Load, and Playback panel, use the Tools Player to observe the elements’ movement, as shown:
Overall, Navisworks makes it easy to hold graphic elements, simplifying roaming operations significantly.
