Functions of Tools for Placing Prefabricated Components in Revit
In the MEP Fabric Components tab, when you select prefabricated components from the options board, the Modify | Place Prefabricated Components panel offers various placement tools.
Edit Component: Opens the Edit Components dialog box, where you can adjust dimensions and connector parameters.
Rotate Component: Rotate components around their connectors by pressing the spacebar. For T-shaped tees or fittings such as joints, hold down the Shift key and press the spacebar to change the joint’s orientation. To rotate a component in a vertical view, hold the Control key and press the spacebar.
Note: Rectangular fittings rotate in 90-degree increments, while circular pipe fittings rotate in 45-degree increments.
Switch Connectors: While placing a component, you can change which open connector attaches to the cursor. You can also press the up arrow key to switch connectors.
Insert Components: Place T-shaped tees, valves, regulating valves, or embedded equipment onto existing straight pipe sections.
Connect as a Joint: Add duct fittings as joints on straight sections of rectangular or elliptical ducts. Fittings can be rotated around the duct either during or after placement.
Intelligent Capture: Enable intelligent capture to increase snap targets on connectors, making connections easier. Disable this feature to revert to standard snap behavior when placing elements.
Slope Tool for Pipelines: Use this tool to draw prefabricated inclined pipelines. For details, refer to the slope tool for MEP prefabricated pipelines.
Display Help Tooltip: Show tooltips in the drawing area while placing parts. You can also activate this by entering the command HT.
