Quickly Find the Perfect Viewpoint and Angle Using Navisworks

How to Quickly Find the Ideal Viewpoint Position and Angle in Navisworks

When exploring a model, you can use various navigation methods such as panning, roaming, and zooming. However, what if you want to quickly return to specific viewpoints for repeated observation? Navisworks allows you to save viewpoints for easy access later.

First, adjust the model to your desired viewpoint position and viewing angle. There are two ways to save this viewpoint:

Method 1:

Use the ribbon menu: Viewpoint > Save Viewpoint. This opens the Saved Viewpoints window, where the current viewpoint will be saved.

Method 2:

1. Open the Saved Viewpoints window by pressing Ctrl + F11.

2. Right-click inside the Saved Viewpoints window and select Save Viewpoint from the menu, as illustrated below.

3. Assign a name to the viewpoint.

To quickly return to a previously saved viewpoint, simply click on it within the Saved Viewpoints window.

Additionally, Navisworks offers roaming navigation aids to help you quickly locate viewpoints:

1. Select the ribbon menu: View > Reference View > Plan View (see image below) and enable the Plan View icon.

2. The Plan View window will appear. Drag the small white triangle, which indicates the current viewpoint position, to your desired location. The model window viewpoint will update accordingly, linking your movements in real time.
