How to Accurately Model Site Thickness in Revit

How to Represent Site Thickness in Revit

In Revit 3D views, the site typically appears as a flat face. However, in section and elevation views, you can display the site’s surface thickness and control the section display style.

Using the Hefei Planning Exhibition Hall project by Ubi Services as an example (see image), you can create a section view by using the View > Section command to generate the view shown below.

In this view, the typical outdoor site fill used in construction drawings is not displayed by default. To address this, click the small arrow next to the Volume and Site Modeling panel in the toolbar, as shown in the image. In the Site Settings dialog box that appears, you can set the desired section fill style.

Note that the section fill style here corresponds to the Section Fill Pattern of the selected material. After configuring these settings, the outdoor ground fill will be visible in the section view, as demonstrated in the figure.

Additionally, when using coloring mode, the fill pattern remains visible, as shown in the example image.
