How Revit Automatically Generates Drawing Catalogs
After creating drawings in Revit, you can automatically generate a drawing catalog that is dynamically linked to the drawing numbers and names. Whenever these details change, the catalog updates automatically. Follow the steps below to set this up:
1. Create a drawing catalog folder.
2. Create a detailed drawing list:
① Go to the ribbon and select View > Schedule > Sheet List.
② In the Sheet List Properties window, choose the available fields on the left—such as Sheet Number and Sheet Name—and add them to the right. To include additional fields like Title Block, click the Add Parameters button.
③ Click OK to complete the schedule creation, as illustrated below.
3. In the Project Browser’s drawing category, double-click the catalog folder you created in step 1 to open it.
4. Add the drawing schedule created in step 2 to the catalog folder using one of the following methods:
① Drag and drop the Sheet List from the Project Browser directly into the catalog folder, as shown in the image.
② Or, select View > View from the ribbon. In the pop-up window, choose the sheet list schedule, then click Add Views to Sheet to place the schedule into the drawing catalog, as demonstrated below.
