How to Batch Update or Re-label Components in AutoCAD Electrical

Did you know AutoCAD Electrical has a built-in feature for automatically updating component labels? You can update tags for the current drawing, multiple drawings, or even batch update an entire project.

Method 1:

Use the Edit Components option under the Schematic tab to re-label components. This command updates the component tags in the currently active drawing (the DWG file you have open) or across the entire project, following the project’s component tagging rules.

Simply select the components you want to re-label—either specific graphics or the whole project.

Method 2:

You can also use the Update/Re-Tag command to batch update component labels.

  1. Select the graphics that need updating.
  2. Choose the specific components you want to process.

Then wait for the software to apply updates based on the component tagging rules set in your project settings or graphic properties.
