How to Quickly Use Newly Created Project Templates in Revit
Revit includes four default project templates, but often these templates may not fully meet your project requirements. In such cases, you need to create a new template tailored to your specific needs. So, how can you quickly use a newly created project template and make it appear alongside the default Revit templates for easy access every time you open the software? Below, we will guide you through the setup process step by step.
1. Open Revit and go to the tab located at the bottom right corner. Click on Options and then switch to the File Locations tab, as shown in the image below.
2. By default, the software includes four project templates. You can click the plus sign (+) to add new templates for quick access. Use the arrow buttons to adjust their order vertically. Click Path to select the corresponding folder, as shown in the figure. This is the default template folder used by Revit.
3. Save your newly created template file into the folder path displayed in the previous step.
4. Click the plus sign (+) again, select Path, and then navigate to the folder where you saved your new template file. Add it to the list, as illustrated below.
Once these steps are completed, open a new project in Revit. You will see that your new template has been successfully added alongside the four default templates, making it quick and easy to use.
Why This Matters: Every project varies in complexity and requirements. The families and components used during design and modeling differ from project to project, so having the right project template is essential. Preparing a suitable template in advance can save you significant time and effort later. By following the steps above, you can add your custom templates to the quick project creation area for convenient access.
