Innovative Methods for Dimension Annotation in Revit
Are you still manually creating dimension annotations the traditional way? Let me introduce you to a new, more efficient method! Start by opening Revit and drawing some grid axes. Next, we’ll add dimensions to these grids, as shown in the image below.
Once the grid is complete, draw walls aligned with the grid, as illustrated in the following figure.
Navigate to the Annotation tab, then to the Dimensioning panel, and select the Align command to create your annotations, as demonstrated below.
Does this seem like the usual process? Not quite! There’s an essential setting that you haven’t applied yet. Select the entire wall, then click on Options and enable Intersection Axis Network, as shown in the next figure.
After configuring this setting, click on the wall, and the dimension annotation will automatically appear, just like in the image below.
If you prefer longer dimension annotations, adjust the settings as shown in the following illustration.
Simply click on the wall, and the dimension will instantly display, as seen in the image below.
This annotation method can save significant time on many projects. Just remember to delete any unnecessary walls after completing your annotations.
