Yesterday afternoon, with the completion of the final concrete pour, the main structure of the CR Vanguard Headquarters Building was successfully topped out. This milestone was achieved 13 days ahead of the scheduled contract date of April 22. The construction was contracted to China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, with manufacturing and installation carried out by China Construction Steel Structure.
The CR Vanguard Headquarters Building is situated in the Houhai Headquarters Base, Nanshan District. The building stands 144.6 meters tall, featuring 28 floors above ground and 4 underground floors (5 floors in total locally). The total floor area covers 117,943 square meters. Construction began on November 22, 2013, with the basement topping out two days early on August 20, 2014. The main structure was topped out on April 9, 2015, also ahead of schedule. The building is expected to be ready for use by February 22, 2016.
Upon completion, the building will serve as the headquarters office for CR Vanguard. It will be connected to the neighboring China Resources Group headquarters building, known as “Spring Bamboo Shoots.” Together, these structures will form the largest commercial complex in Shenzhen.
The project faced numerous construction and management challenges, including a complex surrounding environment, numerous specialized trades and work surfaces, intricate process coordination, and difficulties in general contracting management. To address these challenges, the project team implemented advanced solutions such as a high-rise construction lifting platform system and a Building Information Modeling (BIM) system, ensuring smooth project execution.
CR Vanguard is a state-owned holding enterprise group directly under the central government and is ranked among the world’s top 500 companies. China Resources Group, a leading retail chain enterprise group and one of the largest in China, owns CR Vanguard along with other well-known brands such as Suguo, Ode to Joy, China Resources Hall Ole’, BLT, VIVO, and Pacific Coffee. Notably, its supermarket business has held the top position among Chinese chain supermarkets for several consecutive years.
