Project Overview
The Shanghai Station on Metro Line XX is situated on the west side of Zhongshan South Second Road. This underground station features an island platform design spanning three levels. The first underground level serves as the concourse, the second is dedicated to equipment, and the third houses the platform.
The station measures 170 meters in length, with a standard width of 21.2 meters and a platform width of 12.55 meters. The public area in the station hall covers 2,428.44 m², while the platform’s public area occupies 1,628.4 m². Construction work includes installation of the station and section power systems, water supply and drainage, fire protection systems, as well as heating and ventilation systems.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) Applications
- Integrated mechanical and electrical pipelines across basement levels one to three
- Construction coordination and conflict detection using BIM technology
- Detailed modeling of equipment and pipelines within the refrigeration room
- Comprehensive modeling of fire pump room equipment and pipelines
- 5D construction management leveraging BIM, incorporating 3D model-based progress tracking and cost control

The BIM collision detection system has delivered remarkable results by identifying a total of 22 pipeline clashes. Of these, 17 conflicts (78%) were resolved on-site, while 5 (22%) required design modifications reported back to the design team.
Utilizing BIM collision detection technology has improved pipeline routing, minimized interference among different disciplines, and prevented rework and delays. This has ensured steady construction progress and enhanced quality, resulting in significant cost savings.
