Modifying the Display of Pipeline Attachment Components in Revit
During the Revit modeling process, equipment such as fans must be placed within the model. These fans typically come in two types: suspended and floor-standing. The primary difference between them is the presence or absence of a base. To accommodate this, you can control the visibility of certain components within the family to meet specific requirements.
1. Locate the family you want to modify and double-click to enter the family editor, as shown in the figure.
2. Click on Family Types and differentiate the visibility parameters of the component attachments by giving them distinct names, as illustrated.
3. Click OK, then select the components whose visibility you want to control. Add the corresponding visibility parameters to the visible section of the graphics, as shown.
4. After loading the family into your project, you can find the relevant component names in the family type editor. Simply uncheck the box to hide the specific component.
Why this skill matters:
By controlling component visibility, you can display similar components in different ways to serve various functions within the same family. This approach eliminates the need to repeatedly search for different family components.
