How Many Roof Shapes Can Be Created in Revit After Adding Slopes?
In Revit, applying the Define Slope attribute to roof boundary lines allows you to create various roof types, such as flat roofs, double-pitched roofs, and four-pitched roofs. To begin, enter the sketch mode and select the roof boundary line that you want to define as sloped (this is usually indicated in the interface).
Within the Attributes palette, you can toggle the Define Roof Slope option on or off to control whether a boundary line has a slope applied.
To set the exact slope, select the boundary line with the slope definition, click on the numerical slope value displayed in the drawing area, and input the desired slope angle.
You can also specify the slope format by adjusting the settings in the Project Units dialog box under the Slope attribute format.
Examples:
- A single diagonal line creates a flat roof.
- Two opposite diagonal lines create a double-pitched roof.
- Three or four diagonal lines create a four-pitched roof.
- Other combinations of boundary lines and diagonal lines will produce different roof shapes.
