How to Set Linked Models as Room Boundaries in Revit

How to Designate Linked Models as Room Boundaries in Revit

Activate this setting only within the linked model itself. The Room Boundary type attribute is necessary to place rooms in the linked model. If you haven’t linked the model yet, first establish links between models by following the provided instructions.

In the main model’s plan view, select the linked model.

The status bar will display the following message:

RVT link: Revit model linked: <model name>.

On the Attributes palette, click Type Properties.

In the Type Properties dialog box, select Room Boundary (this option is unselected by default).

Click OK to confirm.

Note: Curtain wall elements based on IFC cannot be used to define rooms. If necessary, add room dividers along their boundaries.
