The recently completed Gubei SOHO, designed by KPF, is situated in Hongqiao’s central business district. This project features a distinctive, flowing form that creates a dynamic silhouette, seamlessly extending the new central green space of Hongqiao and establishing a new landmark within Shanghai’s business hub.

The development includes a 38-story office tower and a 12-story podium that houses commercial spaces and underground parking. The landscape design takes full advantage of the site’s proximity to the park, enhancing the experience of relaxation and leisurely strolls amidst lush natural surroundings.

Capitalizing on its prime central location with views over the park, the building features a thoughtful and expressive architectural design. Inspired by Constantin Brâncuși’s Endless Column, the structure takes on a wavy square spire form with diagonally inclined, flowing contours. Each face of the sculpture is composed of four stacked volumes.

The dense facade, created by a series of angled column grids, effectively provides shade, minimizes glass glare, and reinforces the building’s urban presence.

The volumes of the podium and tower are connected in a streamlined manner, complementing each other. The angled vertical planes enhance the street experience by reflecting the surrounding residential community. A sky garden is located on the top floor, offering dining and outdoor space for both tenants and the public.
