How to Hide the Outline of Internal Drawings in Revit
1. As shown above, when placing a drawing within a created frame, the outer frame line and elevation view points of the inserted drawing also appear. How can we fix this issue? The solution is to go back to the plan view of the drawing that shows the outer frame of the inserted drawing. In this plan view, make sure both Crop View and Crop Region Visible options are enabled.
01: Crop View: This option displays the outer frame in the plan view and allows you to shrink the cropped area.
02: Crop Area: The model crop area lets you crop model elements and detail components (such as insulation and detail lines) located along the crop boundary. When the 3D view passes through this crop area, the 2D elements (like elevations and grids) will automatically adjust to the edge of the crop boundary. If the crop region is closed, the baseline elements’ size will not change (Do not clip view). These elements will be shown in their original dimensions as when initially drawn.
03: Steps to operate: You can adjust settings in two places within a separate floor plan: Crop View and Crop Region. First, use the Properties panel under Range Settings, and second, control these via the 6th and 7th tools in the toolbar at the bottom of the drawing area.
Select and adjust the cropped view in the floor plan, then set the crop region to be invisible (uncheck the visibility option).
04: Finally, return to the created drawing to verify the changes.
Key Point: Whenever the original content of the views loaded in the drawing—whether a plan, elevation, or schedule—is modified, the corresponding views within the drawing will update automatically.
