Why the Room Fill Section in Revit Is Not Displaying

BIM Software Tip: Understanding Why Revit Room Fill Profiles May Not Display

In the floor plan view, room fills appear as expected, as demonstrated in the image below:

However, in the section view, the room fills are completely missing despite all visibility settings being enabled. Interestingly, the legend displays correctly, as shown in the following figure:

When creating a new section, the same issue persisted. I discovered that the section automatically applied a view template. After carefully reviewing each setting, I found that the project team had assigned a white solid fill pattern to the wall surfaces within the view template. This was done intentionally to maintain drawing consistency and to prevent various wall textures from cluttering the visual presentation. Because the fill was white, the issue wasn’t immediately obvious, as illustrated below:

Solution: Change the wall fill pattern to invisible within the view template. This adjustment allows the room fills to display correctly in the section view.

Summary: Visibility settings take precedence over room color fills, so this aspect requires careful attention. After applying the fix, the room fills display normally in the section, as shown below:
