BIM Software Tip: When copying views in Revit MEP, it’s important to understand the different copying options available.
Copy View: This option creates a new view that contains only the model geometry from the current view. It excludes all view-specific elements such as annotations, dimensions, and details.
Copy with Details: Use this to create a view that includes both the model geometry and the view-specific elements present in the current view. These elements include tags, dimensions, detail components, detail lines, repeating details, and filled regions. (Note: This option can be used for funding views.)
Copy as Related: This creates a new view linked to the original, ensuring both views stay synchronized. Any changes made in one view—such as scale adjustments or view properties—will automatically update in the other. This is useful for displaying sections of a large floor plan across multiple related views.
