How to Export Revit Frames
Revit is a versatile, multi-disciplinary collaborative software widely used in the design industry, especially for creating construction drawings. When it comes to producing drawing frames within the design process, Revit offers an efficient solution by combining text labels, shared parameters, and drawing frame parameters. But how do you export a drawing frame created as a family in Revit? Let’s explore this through a simple step-by-step example:
1. First, prepare the family you want to use. For instance, start with the “Title Bar” family to create a frame. Load this family into your project, then create a new drawing based on the loaded frame. Afterward, drag the drawing you created inside the software into this frame.
2. Once the drawing is complete, you’ll want to export the frame. We won’t cover all the details of CAD export settings here, but it’s important to select the option Export views and links on sheets as external references when exporting and saving. This ensures that the frame will be included in the export. The steps to follow are outlined below.
3. After exporting, you will find two drawings in the export folder. The frame will be visible in the first image, as shown below.
4. At this stage, you can open the drawing containing the frame using CAD software and export the frame directly from the layout.
