Using Formulas to Dynamically Adjust Element Sizes in Revit 2019

How to Use Formulas to Adjust Element Size in Revit 2019 New Features

When drawing a wall, you can enter a formula for the wall’s temporary dimension. The formula must begin with an equal sign (=) and follow standard mathematical syntax. This method allows you to modify the dimensions of existing elements by selecting the element and editing its dimension.

Revit will display a temporary dimension for the selected element. If the dimension references the wrong point, simply drag the blue square (located on the dimension extension line) to the correct reference point.

Click on the dimension annotation to edit it.

You may need to zoom in to clearly see the dimension value, which will appear in a text box.

Enter the desired formula to update the dimension.

Tip: Ensure that units remain consistent within your formula. Avoid mixing different units, and you can use single-variable constants.
