How to Save Local Aliases in Revit
When using Revit linking, if the linked file has working sets enabled, it is typically linked directly to the central file. However, in some cases, to ensure the stability of linked files over a certain period, linking to a fixed local copy may be preferred.
If the linked file is a local copy of a central file, opening the Manage Links dialog will show the central path of this local file in the “Save Path” field. For example, AAA-central.rvt is the central file stored in a folder on my D drive.
The local copy, which I placed on the desktop of my C drive, is linked through Revit.
Once the link is complete, you can open the Manage Links panel to view its details.
Here, the “Save Path” column clearly displays the location of the central file associated with this local copy, while the “Local Alias” column shows the location of the local copy itself.
