How to Rename Imported CAD Drawings in Revit
When modeling in Revit, importing CAD drawings is a fast and convenient method. But how can you directly rename those imported drawings within Revit? Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you do just that.
1. Click on the Menu Bar and then select the View button, as shown in the illustration.
2. From the dropdown menu, check the box labeled Attributes, as depicted in the image.
3. In the popup attribute list, click on Visibility/Graphics, then select the Edit button next to Replace, as shown below.
4. In the dialog box that appears, click on the toolbar option labeled Imported Category, as demonstrated.
5. Click on the Object Style button in the new dialog box, as shown in the picture.
6. Within the Object Style dialog, select the CAD drawing whose name you want to change, as indicated.
7. After selecting the drawing, click the Rename button located at the bottom right corner, as displayed.
8. Enter the new name in the Rename dialog box that pops up, as shown in the figure.
9. Once you have renamed the drawing, click the Confirm button. Be sure to click OK on all three open dialog boxes to apply the changes, as illustrated.
