How to Locate Instances of a Family Used in a Project in Revit 2019
To identify elements that use a specific family type, you can highlight them either within a single view or across the entire project.
Start by opening the relevant project view.
In the Project Browser, use the Search function or manually expand the corresponding categories and families to locate the desired family type.
Once found, right-click on the family type and choose one of the following options:
Note: If no elements in the current project use this family type, the Select All Instances option will be disabled.
Selecting Select All Instances will highlight all elements of that family type within the current view.
The number of selected elements is displayed in the bottom-right corner of the window.
- Select All Instances in Entire Project
- Select All Instances Visible in View
If you choose Select All Instances in Entire Project, make sure to open another project view to see the highlighted elements.
All elements using that family type will then be highlighted throughout the project.
Note: When selecting Select All Instances in Entire Project, you can also choose between By Category or By Graphic Element. Hidden elements in the view will still be selected, although they remain hidden.
Press the Esc key to return the display of graphic elements to its original state.
